The Kelal'Ilankelath'Tavulsetes (lit. The Great Record of the Golden Land of the Emperor)
commonly known as the [[Chronicle of the Golden Empire]] is the official record of [[the Empire]] since the founding of the [[League of Metals]] in the aftermath of the [[Great Cleansing]]. It uses the standard [[Imperial Dating System]], and thus begins nearly 1000 years before year 0.

- For the first time since the rise of the Republic, a series of 27 Takeli seized power one after another, seeing the republic as weak + indecisive

- For nearly the next 100 years, a series of warlords seize power, only holding it so long as they win their battles, the senate still holds ‘ultimate power’ but is frequently forced to side with the reigning Takel at spearpoint.
- These Takeli expanded the Empire first into the fields of [[Iskandr]], and then to the edge of the lands of [[Alakarna]], but faced heavy resistance from the forces of the [[Emeraldi]] [[Kenath of Iskandrun]] and the [[Nath]] of Alakarna, but the lands were chipped away at, by the time of [[Zekrel]], lands almost all the way to Alakarna had been conquered.

===The Golden Republic (1138-1265)===
This era finally saw the republic cross the [[River Kazkaril]] and into the [[Kol plains]], as far east as the [[River Zal]]

- The last of the Takel, Zekrel Kalus, a native of [[Golden Tower]], marches his army on Golden Tower and dissolves the old senate

- He refounded it on far more democratic principals, allowing all citizens to vote + any veterans, and vastly increases the size of the senate

- He serves 1 term as head of state, an era of very populist politics begins

- In his one term in office, he de-centralizes the Army of the Republic

:- The overall structure is maintained, but the command is decentralized and granted to border governors, with an army retained in the capitol region

- [[Praldak Domendus]] (b. 1201 - d. 1259) is elected to [insert executive position here], serves 1 term, allies closely with several generals and uses very corrupt practices (sometimes blatantly illegal) to get *many* very popular and important reforms passed that are deeply unpopular with the aristocratic classes who had controlled the Old Senate (and quickly retook control of the Golden Senate)

- His allies in the senate manage to get him the position of Governor of [[Istalia]], a position which would grant him an army (the as of then mostly unconquered region east of [[Lake Istalia]], upon appointment only 2 cities were directly under his authority)

- Praldak Domendus completes his conquest of the lands east of Lake Istalia and into the Western [[Dakarth Mountains]]

- He was NOT granted governorship over any of the conquered lands, nor was he allowed to go east or north, instead he was recalled to Golden Tower to face treason charges

- He refused the recall, thus initiating the:

- Praldak defeats the last of the opposition, the senate grants him the title Ken’Kelkal
Praldak conquers as far east as [[Maygar]]

- Praldak is assassinated
- This triggered a decade of extreme instability
- [[Filipa Praldaka Domendri]] (b. 1239 - d. 1333, 94), eldest niece of the childless Praldak, is named heir in his will
- Filipa is launched into a career as a politician and defacto leader of Praldak’s army

- Filipa is elected as [executive] due to popular love for her uncle + the familial loyalty of the armies

1262 ANK
- Before the end of her term, one of Praldak’s closest allies marches his army on Golden Tower, seeing leadership as his right
- Many provinces fracture from the empire, some declaring new Takels others full independence

- After a bloody conflict, she manages to conquer the lands around [[Theki Tal]]; negotiating peace with neighboring rulers and declaring peace on the 13th centennial of the original founding of the Republic

After her death, she was quickly venerated as a Saint in the Imperial Religion, her worship spread quickly throughout the empire at the encouragement of Valar II

- Rallied a legion from East Gothi, sailed to the heartland, and slew Kazkaria III in the first battle (gained the moniker ‘The Butcher’ after putting Kazkaria III’s officer corps to death)

- Moved Capitol of the Empire to Vasadun

- Ruled benignly for the rest of his reign, died childless

- Nephew of Kazlakin II

- His only son died in infancy

- Was notably insane, his reign saw the death of a majority of House Valari

- Mostly due to paranoid accusations of treason and betrayal

Due to Valar IV’s childless death, the empire was ruled for a time by the Imperial Council which attempted to reassert republican rule
1597, [[Rustath]] and [[Sahlil’Ath]] declared independence and fell from the control of the empire; due to this crisis, the council decided to elect a new Ilankel. Valarik Takal Beledus, a largely benign governor of the province of [[Bouldertan]] which had seen a slow but persistent prosperity under his guidance, and distant relative of the previous ruling house, was elected after several months of deliberation

Managed to reconquer parts of East Gothi, re-establishing the province of Chishth’Ath

Valarik Takal Beledus IV (b.1595 - d.1645, 50, reigned 15 years as head of the Unified Empire)

- Split the Empire into 3, with two junior emperors under himself ruling from Vasadun.

- One was based in the old heartland of the empire capitaled in Dal’Philipa, the old Imperial Capitol
Uthbrand Baldwir, head of the Baldwir Dynasty, an aristocratic ‘noble’ house which had roots as far back as the League, was appointed as Ilankel of the [[(First) Southern Empire]] due to her family lineage and her track record as a successful general under Valar IV.
One was based in the the Northern economic core of Darath, capital of the old high kingdom before the Empire

- Leofwyn Ma’Bari, a loyal common born general under Valar IV, was appointed Ilankel of the [[(First) Northern Empire]]

- He took the title of Ken’Ilankel, highest Emperor

- For the rest of his reign, the Ilankel of the North, and the Ilankel of the south served him loyally, the empire successfully defended against invasions from both the north and south in this era.

- Abdicated in 1641 to retire to a pelinal farm outside Dunas

- Abdicated in 1669 to a horse farm west of Dal’Azalar

Belekar Magnakin Beledan Beledus (b.1640 - d.1689, 49, reigned 13 years)

- Frodgar, a junior Ilankel of the Southern Empire, declared Belekazar unfit to rule the empire in 1676 and claimed the title of Ken’Ilankel

- Defeated the southern usurper Frodgar in early 1682

- Abdicated in the last month of 1682 due to worsening chronic health issues

Havalara Belekar Magnakin Beledus (b.1651 - d.1721, 70, reigned 39 years)
- Halkazar was an incompetent ruler, who was easily manipulated by those around him throughout his reign

- Halkazar’s reign saw the culmination of the rise of the office of [[Kithipli]]

- [[Frodmar Ma’Tara]], at the age of 32, was the first to assume effective control of the empire in 1683

- Upon Halkazar’s ascension to the throne, Leofwyn II declared the Northern Empire to be dissolved, and declaring the revival of the [[High Kingdom of Barigol]]

- Frodmar Ma’Tara personally lead the reconquest of The High Kingdom of Barigol from 1696-1700; seeing their niece, Brethroc Ilankel, appointed as Ilankel of the Northern Empire

- Frodmar Ma’Tara died in 1709, at which point June Melwir III Ilankel attempted depose the aging Halkazar, declaring them incompetent of ruling the empire

- Aethelmar Ma’Tara (Frodmar’s son), took the seat of Kithipli and assumed effective control of the empire, pushing back June Melwir Ken’Ilankel, granting the Loyal General Tekus Telus the title of Ilankel of the Southern Empire

- Due to the worsening crisis, both economic and the famine by 1749, Karinar III declared himself the ruler of an independent southern Empire.

- Krenelazar had Kithipli Thurislaf Ma’Tara assassinated in 1750, provoking his cousin Darathikaz II of the Northern Empire to declare Krenelazar a tyrant, and himself the rightful leader of the Empire

- Kithipli Misketh Hevalik used his power as Regent to issue ‘[[The Decree of One Faith]]’ banning all worship of any god outside the Nat’Kaz.

- ‘The Decree’ as it would come to be known instigated the Great Guild War; generals and governors across the empire variously declared themselves ‘Ilankel’ ‘Regent’ ‘Kenkelna’ and ‘Ken’Ilankel’

- Valar VI fought on the front lines from the ages of 15-18

- Valar VI was assassinated by unknown assailants in camp, after a decisive victory against the Mage’s Guild

Upon reunification of the Empire, a vote was taken by the Imperial Council to once more divide the empire into 3. These would be [[The Golden Empire]], the [[Second Northern Empire]], and the [[Second Southern Empire]].

- Lethtal II’s reign saw the rangers withdrawn during Tarlakan’s reign sent to West Perid where the Guildmaster of West Perid (Ardath Glem) led the successful expansion of the province of West Perid

- Negotiated Barigol’s reentry to the empire in 1890

- Withdrew the Rangers from Hotgar, Erilgar, and Idatan; restoring those provinces to direct Imperial Rule

- Holrath falls to invading Egelbari Tribes

- Officially withdrew any support from the Northern Empire (This was due to Weslanak III’s increasingly provocatory rhetoric)

- In 1933, the Ranger’s Guild attempted an expedition south, but failed to expand into Cuthraethi lands, severely damaging the Ranger’s Guild

- As a result, Rangers were moved from Pandath and Chishath into West Perid

- With the dissolution of the Northern Empire in 1925, Alakarna swore its allegiance to The Golden Empire

- Withdrew support from the Southern Empire in 1947 (This was due to the loss of an over-land border)

- The Rangers had a second failed expedition south in 1952

- As a result, Tarlakan II issued a decree that Guildmasters must seek Imperial Approval to launch an offensive action

=The Modern Period (1966-)=

- Lethtal III reorganized the Imperial Military in 1968

:- In doing so, he split the Army into 3

::- The Border Army, garrisons from across the empire, soldiers in this army are generally sent across the empire so that they are not stationed in their local provinces; these soldiers would be less well trained and serve more as garrisons (and could be commandeered by the Emperor)

:::- Mostly light infantry trained in shield walls, and skirmishers

::- The Regional Armies; Imperial Magistrates and Kelna would be given leeway to recruit from their local provinces armies to be deployed as they see fit; usually these would be used to confront enemies who made it past the Border Armies, though they were on occasion used offensively (and could be commandeered by the Emperor)

:::- Favoring whatever troops are common in local places

::-   The Imperial Army; the army under the direct command of the Emperor (or delegated to the Kithipli), the best equipped and most well trained force (with soldiers drawn from across the empire, and support of the Mage’s Guild)

:::- favoring heavy cavalry and dense shield walls of heavy infantry; with smaller units of skirmishing cavalry and agile medium infantry

- In 1969, Lethal launched a campaign of reconquest

- By 1987, Lethal III had reconquered Kaz’Ath, Di’Ath, Dauran, Valerin, Philath, Kazakath, Harath, and Kulal’Ath

- These new additions were under attack by local tribes from the moment of their reannexation

- Lethtal III sidelined the rangers in favor of his rejuvenated Imperial Military

- In 1980 Lethtal III granted the city of Zykath the status of an independent province after their Regional Army turned the tide of a battle over Philath

- In 1989, Tarlakan III abandoned Kazakath, Philath, Holrath, and Kulal’Ath as untenable

- In 1990, A warlord of the Spring Kradin (Nevir Galth), who had been pushed out of Boldertan, lead his clan to consolidate the old 
Imperial Heartlands as the Kingdom of Jadan
